Previous artist | Next artist
Laura Carter takes inspiration for her art from travels by canoe along Georgian Bay and Lakes Superior and Huron, studio grant time in Newfoundland and journeys into the Canadian Arctic. Her work celebrates the haunting beauty of these isolated places. “My art is a conversation with nature coloured by an affinity for the lonely, isolated places of my childhood; islands and peninsulas surrounded by endless vistas of water.”

An elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Ontario Society of Artists as well as the SCA , she has been a painter and art teacher for over 25 years, as well as an active member of her local art society and a board member of the Orillia and District Arts Council. She is currently represented by the Circle Arts Gallery, Tobermory, On., the Denison Gallery, Wingold St., Toronto, On. and the James Baird Gallery, St. John’s, Newfoundland.
