Edie Harlang was born in Budapest, Hungary and came to Canada in 1949 as a small child. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, she earned accreditation as a chartered accountant and worked at her profession until 1991. Since then she has studied stone and clay sculpture, metal fabrication, glassblowing and casting, life drawing and painting at The Ontario College Art, Sheridan College, Toronto School of Art and stone carving workshops in Florida and Pietrasanta, Italy.
Edie’s sculptures examine relationships and human emotions and while personal, are universal in their appeal. Her alabaster and marble works are elegant and sensual and invite the viewer to touch and feel. Many stone sculptures have been cast in limited edition bronzes.
Edie is also a juried member of the Sculptors Society of Canada. Her exhibitions include a solo show at the Canadian Sculpture Center and many group shows in Toronto.
