Anna Horsnell, SCA

"Simply put, I paint what I feel, not what I see. Each abstract painting may begin with an idea, but I also love spontaneity and the vitality of the unexpected, trusting the energy passing from mind and hand to canvas. I watch and even listen to where the painting wants to go."

Nova Scotia artist, Anna Horsnell creates abstract and non-representational paintings. Her work has evolved steadily through both academic and independent study over the last 40 years. She exhibits regularly in group and solo shows, as well as various commercial galleries, and her paintings hang in public and private collections.

In 2009, she was awarded a Progress Women of Excellence Award for Arts and Culture in recognition of her accomplishments in her profession and community. Her paintings were selected twice for publication in International Artist Magazine and her artwork is also featured in several books - "Nova Scotia's Contemporary Artists: Volume II" and "International Women Celebrate!"

"Art is a meditation, a tribute to this time and place. My greatest pleasure and satisfaction comes from connecting with others through my work."
