Cher Pruys, SCA

I am a painter of realism, adhering to fine detail, captivated by light and how it dances off the objects it strikes. I work in acrylic and watercolor.

I am a self taught artist whose chosen mediums are acrylic, watercolor and gouche. My larger mural pieces which number 24 have all been done in oil paint. My subject matter covers a wide array , including Aviation subjects which I have found to be particularily interesting and rewarding. I always find it an honor to bring to visual life, a story from one of the elderly bush pilots or aviation buffs that I have met on life’s highway.

I immerse myself in art, and cannot imagine a day without it. Along with teaching art lessons,I am an avid fused glass artist and I teach piano, beginners level right through RCM grade 10, and also guitar.

I have done several interviews over the past 16 years with CBC radio. My work has been featured on and in numerous publications internationally. Some of the magazines include Vintage Image, Plane and Pilot, Private Pilot, Canadian Aviation and Aircraft, Flying Magazine, Woman Pilot, Comanche, Beech Staggerwing Publication, Aviation Week Space and Technology, Canadian Aviator Special Edition May/June 2011. Newspaper articles have appeared in The Chicago Tribune, The Thunder Bay Chronicle, The Winnipeg Free Press, The Fort Frances Times as well as numerous others. I have also had the honor of 4 of my paintings used as book covers.

My paintings may be found in galleries, museums, aviation schools, and both private and corporate collections internationally. The National Aviation Museum in Ottawa, acquired my North of 60 several years ago, as well as a number of my ltd.edition prints.
