Andrea Howson, SCA

Andrea Howson is an acrylic artist living and working in Milton, ON. She attended Sheridan College, in Oakville, ON, where she studied and completed a Fine Arts program with Honours. Initially concentrating on the human form, her focus gradually shifted towards wildlife art. She strives to give each of her four-legged or winged subjects a personality the viewer can connect with.

With influences of Van Gogh, Matisse, and Chagall, her style of artwork is naturally fluid, dynamic, and often intensely colourful. Her paintings show movement, rhythm, and energy, and above all, bring the artist’s imagination to life on the canvas.

In the past 3 years, she has showcased her paintings in over 20 shows and exhibitions. Her work has become part of private and corporate collections in Canada and the U.K. Most recently, she was honoured with First Prize 2-D or “Best in Show” of her exhibition at Milton’s Art in the Park.

Andrea balances her time painting with volunteering with two organizations very close to her heart. In honour of her late sister, Andrea volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel, teaching art classes to the matches in the program. For the Society of Canadian Artists, she  has been their Publicity Chair for the past 5 years, and has served on the Board of Directors for the past 3 years.
