Ingrid Black, SCA

Ingid Black, a self-taught artist, has been drawing and painting since childhood and worked with acrylics for over 30 years.

In the eighties, she sold smaller cityscapes through a gallery in Dorval, Quebec, and couldn’t keep up with the demand. In 1985, she became a real estate agent and there was no time left over for her art. She picked up her brushes again in 2000, searching for a new direction. Still working as an agent, she made time to experiment with different ideas.

In 2007, she found what she was looking for. She decided to paint portraits of artists whose music she listened to for many years, endeavoring to capture her subjects’ energy on stage while depicting them in a surrealistic way.  She painted quite a few of these portraits and toyed with other ideas in between.

In 2014, she started painting birds, really enjoing this new subject. The result was a series of bird paintings. Her birds are realistic in unrealistic settings. The titles are very important as they add to the humour of the situation.

"I don't know what tomorrow may bring but, for now, I am enjoying the ride."  -  Ingrid Black

Since her retirement from real estate, she has been a member of the

Lakeshore Association of Artists (Publicity, Graphics, Communications (2008 - 2016).
