SCA Call for Entries 2019

Important: All elected members submitting work for jurying for SCA exhibitions, please note that: Entries must not be copies, derivatives, or based in any way on other artists’ paintings, photographs, copyrighted or not, or other artistic work. Any infraction of this rule will result in serious consequences, it will result in but will not be limited to expulsion from the SCA. Entry fees will be forfeited.

Insurance: Artists are encouraged to have their own insurance as the host venue Viva Vida Art Gallery or the SCA are not responsible for loss or damage of artwork for the duration of the exhibit.

Conditions of Entry

  1. The Exhibition is only open to Elected Members of the SCA creating original artwork in all traditional media including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and photography. They must be entirely the work of the entrant, executed without the supervision of an instructor, and within 3 years of the entry deadline. Work must not have been previously exhibited in an SCA exhibition. 
  2. All works must be suitably framed or prepared with instructions for the installation of three-dimensional work. Two-dimensional work must be wired and ready for hanging. Stretchers used for gallery canvases must be a minimum of 1.5 inches in depth with visible edges being finished.
  3. Artwork must not exceed 1200 sq. inches (unframed, possibly 30” x 40”, vertical or horizontal). Shipped artwork must arrive at the gallery in Pointe Claire via UPS, FedEx or Canada Post and suitably packaged for both shipment to and from this gallery.
  4. The artist by submission grants Viva Vida Art Gallery and the SCA the right to photograph accepted work for publicity, educational, references and website purposes. 
  5. All artwork must be for sale, priced in Canadian funds with the intent to sell. Viva Vida Art Gallery charges a 30% commission on all sales. Prices must include this and not be artificially inflated. The SCA will not take any commission for this exhibition.

  • 2 additional Awards of Merit of $250 each

  • August 23, 2019 - Call for entries is closed.
  • September 13, 2019 - Notification by email
  • October 11, 2019 - Latest date shipped work to arrive at Viva Vida Art Gallery (no exceptions or work may not be hung)
  • October 15, 2019 - Hand-deliveries to gallery 10am to 5pm
  • October 18, 2019 - Official Opening and Reception 6 to 9 pm
  • November 2, 2019 - Exhibition closes, return shipping begins
  • November 3 and 5, 2019 - Pickup of hand-delivered artwork Sunday, Nov. 3, 4 to 6pm, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 12 to 4pm
