Patricia Morris, SCA

The inspiration for my current series of paintings, “Trans Canada Drive”, comes from a desire to consolidate my many interests and a love of moving through the Canadian landscape.

As I began to experiment with techniques for representing the experience of motion through landscape, the extent of my travels suggested the possibility of creating a Canadian collection, one that includes all the provinces and territories.  This goal has taken me and my family on wonderful adventures to remote parts of this spectacular country.  My next target is Labrador in the spring, when I hope to see the icebergs passing by.

I invite you to share the road trip experience, to become a passenger, and to recall landscapes that exist only in fluid moments. You are interacting but removed, moving fast yet sitting still, you are here, and between here and there. A fleeting glance becomes a substantial source for insight and inspiration.

Enjoy your Trans Canada Drive!

I was born in Beauharnois QC and raised in Kitimat BC and England before moving to New Brunswick where I earned a BFA and taught at Mount Allison University. I later earned an MFA from Concordia, and a Diploma in Art Education at McGill. I have taught fine arts and photography at secondary schools in Kingston, Ontario, and at Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School for Girls in Montreal.  I currently live and paint in Pointe-Claire, Quebec.
