Mali Vargas, SCA

Mali holds a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. Vargas is a founding member and Program Coordinator for Betzalel Arts at the Calgary Jewish Community Center.

She has served on the Provincial Council for the Alberta Society ofArtists, as well as, the Board of Directors of the Women's Art Museum Society of Canada. Although initial influences led her to pop cubism, the gradual loss of all form and a concentration on color has driven her to a more organic form of abstract expression.

Crediting the academic research background of her parents, she learned to appreciate the exploration and experimentation phases that have allowed her to consolidate her own process in art making.  Mali Vargas' work resides in private collections in Mexico, Switzerland, USA, and Canada.
