Sheila Schaetzle, SCA, -

Sheila remembers sketching as young as age six, her collection of sketchbooks show the development of a self taught Artist. With a strong desire to explore her creative side she has pursued many artistic challenges over her lifetime including painting murals, constructing classroom props, and since 1999 has committed herself to the fine arts.

Spending years developing her understanding of acrylics, oils, and mixed media she enjoys sharing her knowledge; feeling she has something to offer with her methodical approach to learning. Sheila's own practice is based on a philosophy to paint what you know; the places you've been and as a result often works from sketches. She works quickly with bold brush marks, layers of translucent colors, using techniques that have developed over time. Exploration of a subject matter is key in the development of her work. Sheila's work can be viewed at Michelangelo Gallery of Fine Art, and Leighton Art Center.

She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artist, The Alberta Society of Artist and the International Society of Acrylic Painters. She writes a monthly newsletter and blog that includes inspirational stories, and an inside look at life as an Artist.
