Krista Hasson, SCA

ARTIST STATEMENT

My subject matter comes from the natural world surrounding us.  It is truly an expression that transcends beyond just painting beautiful pictures. It is being able to convey my overwhelming inspiration, the feeling of being part of something bigger, and my deep connection with nature.

I work with watercolor on rice paper, using wax as a resist. The wax creates a visual texture while the translucent rice paper paired with the transparent watercolor allows the light to glow from within. I think it is my process people are most interested in. They are curious as to how I achieve the final results. I want you to notice how the dark veins travel throughout the work creating a distinct portrait of nature.
