Deri Chilton Russell, SCA

Deri Chilton Russell resides in rural southwestern Ontario near Hanover, at the base of the Bruce Peninsula. Most of her subject matter is developed from images she photographs within an hour and a half drive from her home. Her paintings describe her surroundings: farms, lakes, the woods, beaches, and docks. Children, elders, characters and wildlife that reside or visit the area.

She has what she refers to as a "semi realistic" style in her work. Bright colours and sumptuous detail describe the light and energy in each painting. Deri's work is familiar, comfortable, and informal. "It's relaxing" someone said.

Her main media these days is acrylic painting, but sometimes she delves into glass art for residential and corporate projects.
